“Congratulations Angella Okutoyi for the outstanding performance and well-earned victory at the International Tennis Federation Women’s World Tour. Your determination and talent carried you through tough competition to become the champion,” the President said.
“You have flown Kenya’s flag high and inspired young athletes. We are proud of you. Well done.”
Okutoyi continues to be viewed as a trailblazer for Kenyan tennis, with her latest triumph strengthening hopes for sustained excellence and broader participation in the sport nationwide.
She showcased her class and fighting spirit to emerge champion at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tour, held at the Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi.
Facing Italy’s Martina Colmegna in the final, the African Games gold medallist secured a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Okutoyi took control early, but Colmegna responded strongly in the second set to force a decider.
In the decisive third set, Okutoyi drew strength from the home crowd, displaying grit and determination to close out the match and crown an impressive week of competition. NOCK president Shadrack Maluki hailed the win, praising Okutoyi’s resilience and unwavering focus on court.

She rose to prominence after making history in 2022 by becoming the first Kenyan to win a junior Grand Slam title, claiming the girls’ doubles crown at Wimbledon. That breakthrough established her as a trailblazer for Kenyan tennis on the global stage.
Okutoyi has since transitioned into the professional ranks, competing on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tour. She is also an African Games champion, underlining her dominance at continental level.
Known for her resilience, strong baseline play, and competitive mentality, she has continued to post strong results both locally and internationally.
