A man has surrendered to police in connection with the death of his three-year-old cousin in Webuye, Bungoma County.

Police said the suspect was brought to the station by his mother.

The motive for the child’s death is not yet known.

The child’s body was discovered on December 31, 2025, in a room in Shangalamwe village, wrapped in a blanket.

It was later taken to a mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

The suspect has been detained pending arraignment.

Elsewhere, in Butere, Kakamega County, police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man whose body was found along a road in Mumakunda village.

Authorities reported that the victim had a deep cut on the left side of his neck.

The motive remains under investigation.

The body was moved to a local mortuary, and police said they continued to search for potential suspects in the case.

In Murang’a County, police are investigating the death of 76-year-old Margaret Mukami, whose body was found along the Murang’a-Sagana highway.

Authorities said she is believed to have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped by the roadside.

Her family later identified her body at the local mortuary. The motive for the killing remains unknown.

In Kisii County’s Nyamage village, a man was killed by a mob amid claims that he was involved in theft.

Police condemned the incident and urged the public to hand over suspects to authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.

The body was taken to a mortuary pending investigations.

Authorities have noted a rise in mob-related killings, with some cases reportedly occurring under false accusations.

Police said they have arrested and charged individuals involved in such incidents and continue to investigate pending cases.
