
Detectives are investigating the death of a 75-year-old woman whose body was found in a thicket in Kyuso, Kitui County.
The woman had been reported missing on December 28, 2025, after attending a church service. Her body was discovered the following day.
Police said it was found partially covered with a cloth. The woman had a leso wrapped around her neck and face, and her underwear was found beside the body.
Authorities indicated she may have been assaulted before her death. The motive remains unclear, and the body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police confirmed that they are pursuing suspects, but no arrests had been made by New Year’s Eve.
In Gaitu, Meru County, police are investigating the death of 25-year-old Agnes Mwendwa, whose body was found at the base of a quarry in the Kaguma area.
Relatives said she was last seen on December 24, appearing intoxicated. The body, discovered two days later, had visible facial injuries.
