A 13-year-old boy drowned in a dam in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, according to police and family members.

Police said the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, in the Kitise area.

The boy had gone swimming at the dam with other children when he drowned.

His body was retrieved and taken to a mortuary, where it is being held pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In a separate incident, a man died following an attack in the Nessut area of Njoro, Nakuru County.

Police said the incident happened on the morning of December 27, when a 30-year-old man, identified as Francis Mugo, was attacked while walking home with a woman after spending time out.

Police reported that the two were confronted by a group of people who attempted to rob them.

Mugo sustained serious injuries and later died while receiving treatment in hospital.

The woman sustained head injuries and is admitted to hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Mugo’s body was moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said investigations are ongoing and efforts to trace those involved in the attack are continuing.

Elsewhere, an officer was injured at Makongeni Police Station in Thika after being attacked by a suspect in custody.

Police said the suspect, who had been detained in connection with an assault case, became violent on December 26, 2025, and attacked the officer on duty.

The suspect also assaulted other detainees before being restrained. Police said additional measures were taken to prevent further harm to other suspects.

In Navakholo, Kakamega County, a police officer was injured during an attempt to disperse a night disco on December 27.

Police said the officer was hit on the head by a stone and was taken to hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Meanwhile, a police officer died after being involved in a road accident in the Industrial Area of Nairobi on December 26.

He was identified as Constable Shamalla Joash, who was attached to Nachu Police Station in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

In another incident, police in Soweto, Kayole, Nairobi, shot and injured a suspect during an arrest on Christmas Day night.

Police said officers responded after receiving reports of robberies in the area. During the operation, one suspect was injured and arrested.

Police said the suspect was found in possession of a knife, an imitation firearm, and several rolls of cannabis.

The suspect was taken to hospital under police guard.

Police said operations in the area have since been intensified as part of ongoing efforts to address crime.
