
National and regional leaders have sent Christmas and New Year messages to Kenyans, urging peace, unity and responsible celebration as the country marks the 2025 festive season.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen sent his message alongside his spouse, saying, “Gladys and I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026.”
He added that the season offers a moment for the country to reflect on its blessings.
"This time of the year, we come together as families and friends to celebrate our achievements and blessings. As a Nation, we thank God for yet another year of unity, safety and progress," he said.
Murkomen urged responsible enjoyment during the holidays.
"Enjoy the festive season with moderation, be mindful of the rights of others, observe traffic rules and maintain peace at all times.”
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura described 2025 as a year that tested the country’s institutions and resolve.
“This Christmas, we reflect on a year of challenges and progress for Kenya. 2025 tested our economy, society and governance, yet our resilience, hope and unity have carried us through,” he said as he wished Kenyans.
“Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2026.”
ODM leader Oburu Odinga called on Kenyans to embrace generosity and care.
“Fellow Kenyans, I take this opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026. Let us spread love, share generously with our neighbours and pray for our country," he said.
"Take care on the roads, we need you next year."
The European Union Ambassador to Kenya, Henriette Geiger, offered her greetings on behalf of the EU.
"Today, on behalf of myself and the EU, I wish everyone in Kenya a joyous Christmas filled with peace, love, and happiness," she said.
"May your holiday celebration be surrounded by warmth and cherished moments."
Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o extended festive wishes to residents.
“On behalf of the County Government of Kisumu and on my own behalf together with Mama County, I extend warm greetings & best wishes to all the staff and the great people of Kisumu County… Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year 2026.”
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi urged unity, saying, “Let’s maintain peace, extend love and preach harmony throughout this festive season… I wish you a merry Christmas.”
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya took the opportunity to thank his constituents.
"Merry Christmas to my beloved Mumias East family… thank you for the privilege of serving you - here's to a prosperous New Year ahead!" he said.
"May your homes be filled with laughter, your hearts with gratitude, and your lives with countless blessings."
LSK President Faith Odhiambo reflected on the meaning of Christmas, saying the birth of Christ “symbolises God’s enduring love for humanity and His willingness to give Himself to us.”
She added, "Thanks to this miracle, we celebrate Christmas as a time to strengthen Faith, express love, and give gentle care to those in need. May the warmth of Christmas bring you divine joy".
Former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i urged safe driving.
"I wish all my fellow citizens, in Kenya and the Diaspora, a wonderful Christmas 2025. May your celebrations be filled with joy, peace, and God’s abundant blessings," he said.
"I also urge all motorists to drive carefully and strictly adhere to all road safety measures to prevent accidents".
Former presidential candidate and businessman Jimi Wanjigi called for reflection and renewal as Kenyans celebrate the season.
"Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas season. May we, as Kenyans, use this time to spread peace, love, and wisdom among ourselves," he said.
"The celebration of the Birth of Christ offers a powerful moment to reflect, to reconcile, and to renew our commitment to what unites us, faith, humanity, and hope for a better tomorrow. Warm wishes for the season and the year ahead."
