The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has invited applications from interested and suitably qualified persons to serve as Chairperson of its Audit Committee.

The purpose of the Audit Committee is to provide structured oversight of the ODPP’s governance, risk management and internal control systems. 

According to the notice, the Committee will support the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and management by offering advice and guidance on the adequacy of initiatives.

The initiatives relate to values and ethics, governance structures, risk management, internal control frameworks, oversight of internal and external auditors, and financial statements and public accountability reporting.

The Chairperson will report directly to the DPP.

Applicants must meet specific requirements, including Kenyan citizenship, a minimum of an undergraduate degree from a recognized university, and membership in a recognised professional body in good standing. 

Candidates must have at least 10 years of progressive work experience in legal practice, audit, financial management, public procurement, risk management, accounting, or senior management roles in reputable organizations. 

Prospective applicants must not be past or present employees of the ODPP or associated with any organization that conducted business with the ODPP in the last two years. 

They must also demonstrate leadership skills, understanding of ODPP operations, financial reporting, auditing, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

The duties of the Chairperson include providing leadership to the Committee, setting meeting agendas, reviewing internal audit and risk functions.

Other duties include monitoring performance, guiding committee decision-making, and reporting quarterly on governance, risk, and control matters to the DPP.

Members will serve on a part-time basis for three years, with eligibility for one additional term based on performance, and allowances will be paid at rates determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

Interested candidates are required to submit manual applications, including copies of academic and professional certificates, National ID or passport, testimonials, curriculum vitae and contacts of three referees. 

Additional clearances required include certificates from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and a credit clearance from an approved bureau.

The deadline for submission is January 13, 2026. 

The ODPP said only shortlisted candidates will be published on its website.
