KMTC graduate Maggie Nzambi marked her graduation in an unusual but heart-warming way after members of her biological family were unable to attend her ceremony.
Speaking about the viral moment that captured widespread attention online, Nzambi explained that she had anticipated being alone on her big day due to a combination of family circumstances that made their presence impossible.
Nzambi said the graduation post she shared earlier had been difficult to write because she already knew none of her close relatives would make it. She revealed that her grandmother, who is elderly and bedridden, required full-time attention.
Her mother, who is her grandmother’s primary caregiver and also has a full-time job, was therefore unable to attend the event. Additionally, her siblings had examinations scheduled for the entire day.
A Message That Revealed Her Struggle
''I had hoped that my cousin would attend, but those plans changed after alinipigia on Sarturday akaniambia ameekwa on a shift from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Nairobi Hospital.'' She said.
She said the news left her discouraged, as she had looked forward to having at least one family member present to celebrate her achievement.
Nzambi recounted that attending the ceremony alongside friends who were surrounded by their families made the moment more difficult, leading her to post the emotional video before going offline.
The video resonated widely on TikTok, drawing sympathy and support from users who expressed willingness to stand in for her on the big day.
Nzambi said the messages offered reassurance at a moment when she felt isolated.

TikTok Community Steps In
On the day of her graduation, members of her TikTok community arrived to stand in as her support system. According to Nzambi, the gesture felt like receiving an additional family at a moment she needed it most.
TikTok creators and followers who had interacted with her content expressed their pride and encouragement by physically showing up to celebrate with her.
