Applicants must demonstrate competency as all-round drivers.

The Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes has announced 100 vacancies for the position of Driver II CSG 15.

They will be hired under the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development.

In a notice issued by the Principal Secretary, the ministry has invited qualified candidates to apply for the permanent positions, which come with a salary scale ranging from Sh19,340 to Sh24,470 per month.

Successful applicants will also be entitled to house allowance depending on the region of deployment, a commuter allowance of Sh3,000 per month and an annual leave allowance of Sh4,000.

“The State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to men and women, members of all ethnic groups and persons with disabilities,” the statement read.

The ministry said the recruitment exercise was being conducted transparently and in strict adherence to laid-down procedures in line with Chapter 232 of the constitution, which calls for fair competition, merit-based recruitment, and equitable representation of Kenya’s diverse communities.

According to the advert, candidates must meet several requirements before appointment.

Applicants must hold a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of D plain or its equivalent from a recognised institution.

They must also possess a valid driving licence free of any current endorsements for the class of vehicle an officer will be required to drive, alongside at least two years of driving experience.

Other requirements include completion of a First Aid Certificate course lasting at least one week at St John Ambulance, the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or another recognised institution.

Additionally, candidates must have passed the Suitability Test Grade III, obtained a Police Clearance Certificate and hold a Certificate of Good Conduct.

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidates will include driving motor vehicles as authorised, ensuring safety for the vehicles both on and off the road, and guaranteeing the security of passengers and goods.

Drivers will also be tasked with conducting routine checks on vehicles, such as oil, cooling, electrical and brake systems, maintaining cleanliness, and managing work tickets for assigned vehicles.

Applications are to be submitted by filling the Application for Employment Form PSC 2 (Revised 2016), available on the Public Service Commission of Kenya website www.publicservice.go.ke. 

Completed applications can either be hand-delivered to the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development offices at Uchumi House, Nairobi, or emailed to [email protected] .

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 5pm. 

The ministry emphasised that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Those shortlisted will be required to present originals of their national identity card, academic certificates and other relevant testimonials during the interview.

“Canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification,” the notice warned.

With 100 slots available, the exercise is expected to attract thousands of applications, given the competitive salary and benefits attached to the positions.
