The Parliament of Kenya has announced plans to admit 12 law graduates into its 2026 pupilage programme.
In a notice, the Parliamentary Service Commission said the six-month programme will begin in January 2026.
The initiative is part of the Council of Legal Education (Admission) Regulations, 2007, which recognises Parliament as one of the institutions where students of the Kenya School of Law may undertake their practical training.
The Commission said applicants must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree with at least Upper Second Class Honours from a recognised university.
They must also be admitted to the Kenya School of Law and sitting for the Kenya School of Law exams in November 2025.
Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate good communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
According to the Clerk of the Senate applicants must show proficiency in English and Kiswahili as evidenced by a score of at least a B plain grade in both subjects.
Other requirements include a proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a team to handle challenging tasks within specific timelines.
Candidates are also expected to be computer literate.
The application process will be conducted electronically and all interested applicants are required to complete the official Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J).
The form is available on the Parliament website or can be collected from the Commission reception desk at County Hall, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, during working hours.
The Commission said that hard copy applications will not be accepted.
“Applications from applicants who do not complete the Parliamentary Service Commission Job Application Form (Form 1J) referred to in this advertisement will not be considered,” the notice read.
Each application must be submitted as a single PDF file and the file should contain the completed form, a copy of the admission letter to the Kenya School of Law, as well as certified copies of academic certificates and testimonials.
The documents must be sent by email to [email protected].
The deadline for submission is September 30, 2025.
The programme is expected to offer law graduates practical exposure to legislative processes and the legal work of Parliament.
The Commission noted that only applications meeting all requirements will be processed.
