
The Kenya Wildlife Services has announced free entry to select national parks, reserves and sanctuaries to mark World Tourism Day.
Kenya will join the world in marking United Nations World Tourism Day which is celebrated annually on September 27.
This year's theme, "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation," reminds the world of the power of tourism to drive positive change for communities, conservation, and the economy.
“To honour this significant occasion, I am thrilled to announce that the Government of Kenya is offering free entry to all Kenyan citizens to visit Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries on Saturday, September 27th 2025,” Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano announced.
CS Miano said the initiative is an opportunity for every Kenyan to reconnect with breathtaking wildlife heritage, deepen collective commitment to conservation, and experience the unparalleled beauty of natural treasures.
Among the featured 34 destinations are Aberdare National Park in Nyeri and Nyandarua, Amboseli National Park in Kajiado, and Central Island National Park located in Lake Turkana.
Other popular attractions include Chyulu Hills National Park in Kibwezi, Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha, and Kakamega Forest National Reserve in Kakamega.
Kenyans can also explore Kisite Mpunguti National Park and Reserve in Shimoni, Kwale, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary in Kisumu, and Kiunga Marine National Reserve in Lamu.
Additional parks under KWS management for free entry on Saturday are Kora National Park in Meru and Tana River, Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary in Elementaita, Lake Nakuru National Park in Nakuru, and Malindi Marine National Park and Reserve in Malindi.
Others are Malkamari National Park in Mandera, Marsabit National Park in Marsabit, and Meru National Park in Meru and Tharaka Nithi.
Others on the list include Coastal attractions such as Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve in Mombasa, alongside inland destinations like Mount Elgon National Park in Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia, and Mount Kenya National Park in Nyeri, Nanyuki, and Chogoria.
Other destinations include Mount Longonot National Park in Mai Mahiu, Mwea National Reserve in Embu.
Kenyans are allowed free entry on World Tourism Day at the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Nairobi National Park, and Nairobi Safari Walk.
Others are Ndere Island National Park in Kisumu and Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park in Donyo Sabuk Centre.
Ruma National Park in Homa Bay, Saiwa Swamp National Park in Kitale, Shimba Hills National Reserve in Kwale, Sibiloi National Park in Turkana, and South Island National Park in Lake Turkana are also listed.
Others are Tsavo East National Park in Voi, Tsavo West National Park in Mtito Andei, and Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve in Watamu.
