Controversial preacher Pastor James Ng'ang'a recently gave his followers a look back in time. He shared a video of his very first car, taking people on a trip to 1999.

The Unveiling

The clip, dated 22 February 1999, shows a much younger Ng'ang'a. He's in a grey suit, proudly showing off a white Toyota station wagon. The car has the words "NENO EVANGELISM" on the side.

He walks around the car, speaking to a large, excited crowd. It was clearly a huge day for him and his church.

Looking Back

The video then jumps to the present day. We see Pastor Ng'ang'a in his usual ceremonial robes. He's laughing and can't believe how the car looked.

He jokes about the car's small size and its condition. He wonders why no one told him the wheels looked so tiny. He even pokes fun at the oversized suit he wore back then.

“That’s my first car… these people are embarrassing me,” he says in Swahili, before sarcastically asking if the car was “sick.”

A Journey of Growth

Despite the jokes, his comments were also full of gratitude. He compared his humble beginnings to his current life as a well-known televangelist.

The video sparked a lot of comments online. Many people shared their own thoughts.

@roymoses254 quipped, "Na already show off ilikua juu ???" (He was already showing off back then).

@kiambareal.1 identified the car as a "Toyota Corolla Station Wagon EFI 16 valves".

@diba_vince remarked that cars like it were a "dynasty vehicle" back in their day.

A Glimpse Behind the Persona

The throwback moment shows just how far the preacher has come. For a man often in the news for his dramatic style, the video was both funny and quite touching. It gave people a peek at the ambitious young man who first got his start over two decades ago.
