A GROUP OF ward reps from a Mt Kenya county have reportedly expressed dissatisfactionwith their speaker, with some sourcesalleging that they filed a complaint with an investigative agency after he allegedlyfailed to honour a financial arrangement said to involve Sh5 million “protection fee.” The MCAs, who had allegedly struck an informal understanding with the speaker, are reported to haveinitiated inquiries and compiled a dossier relating to corruption claims after a fallout over unmet promises. The speaker has reportedlyoffered to settle the matter, although some MCAs are said to have dismissed this as belated, with suggestions that investigative authorities may already be involved.

THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT empowerment programme has sparked debate in a county in Eastern, with reports indicating it hassplit some area MPs into rival camps.
