Kenyan music sensation Bien-Aimé Baraza, known widely as Bien, recently opened up about his rigorous self-care routine while on his demanding "Alusa" album world tour.
Speaking to Mpasho in Eldoret last weekend, where the East African leg of his tourkicked off, the artist shared how he remains healthy, grounded, and focused amidst a hectic schedule.

Navigating the Demands of Touring
Touring extensively, as Bien has done with successful legs in the US and UK, presents unique challenges.
He described the "toughest part of the tour" as the frequent need to change venues. This is often due to logistical and financial reasons.
He acknowledged that such changes can sometimes "rub the fans off the wrong way". However, his core belief remains:
"The music must get the fans. So, I don't care. Like even if I'm going to play in a kibanda, I'm going to play for my fans wherever they are".

Bien's recent arrival in Eldoret via private jet, following a 2:00 a.m. return from his American tour, highlighted the need for strategic travel to manage fatigue.

He noted that a commercial flight would have required him to be at the airport by 6:00 a.m., making the private jet a necessary, albeit costly, decision for rest.
Bien's Blueprint for Staying Grounded
With early mornings, late nights, and constant travel, fans often wonder how the artist maintains his well-being. Bien shared his non-negotiable health regimen.
"I work out a lot," he stated, adding, "I work out for my life".
Beyond physical activity, his diet is also a priority. "I just eat clean," he confirmed.
When it comes to alcohol, Bien exercises moderation, typically reserving drinks for special occasions: "I don't drink that much. Like I only drink maybe a celebratory drink after the show".
The Power of Sleep
Perhaps the most crucial element of Bien's wellness strategy is sleep. He emphasised its importance for recovery and sustained performance.

"Like any moving object I'm in, I'm sleeping. If I'm in a plane, I'm sleeping. If I'm in a car, I'm sleeping".
He exemplified this by noting that upon arriving in Eldoret by private jet, he immediately went to his executive hotel suite and slept, ensuring he was "rested" for his engagements.
A Tour with Purpose
This current tour is deeply personal for Bien. It aims to properly introduce him as a solo artist to his East African audience.
He explained that while he has performed solo before, this particular tour is directly linked to his upcoming "Alusa" album.
The album is anticipated for release in the first quarter of next year, having been postponed from this year due to the "clutter towards the end of the year".

Through it all, Bien's primary goal remains making his fans happy. He expressed gratitude to those who travel for hours and make plans around his concerts, for "honouring the cultural moment".
