Kenyan actress Jackie Nyaminde, known by her stage name Wilbroda, has addressed the recent online uproar about her beliefs. The controversy began after she shared her views on the afterlife during a podcast interview.
Her comments, which quickly went viral, led to a wave of criticism from fans. Some were disappointed, and many even labelled her an atheist.
Clearing the Air
Following the backlash, Wilbroda appeared on the Mic Cheque podcast to clarify her position. She explained that her words were misunderstood.
“My lack of belief in an afterlife does not make me an atheist.”
She added that she doesn't follow a specific religious denomination like Catholicism or Protestantism. Instead, she considers herself a spiritual person.
A Different Kind of Faith
Wilbroda grew up in a Catholic family, but she says religion wasn't a central part of her upbringing. With a large family, even the cost of bus fare made regular church attendance difficult. Despite this, she maintains a strong belief in a higher power.
