Geoffrey Machabe, the former manager of popular Kenyan recording artist Stevo Simple Boy, has strongly refuted recent allegations that he left the artist's bank account with a mere KSh 18.
Machabe spoke exclusively to Mpasho’s Moses Sagwe, following claims made by Stevo Simple Boy's partner, Brenda, on a live TV47 Kenya interview with Betty Kyallo on Friday night.
Allegations of Exploitation
Brenda had painted a grim picture of Stevo Simple Boy's financial situation, revealing a stark contrast between his public image and private struggles.

During her interview, she recounted her surprise upon visiting Stevo's residence, discovering that despite his fame and brand deals, he "had nothing".
She alleged that his previous management exploited him, taking all his earnings and leaving him with even a small percentage.
According to Brenda, after the management's departure, Stevo checked his bank account and was shocked to find only KSh 18 remaining. She stated that this meant they had to "start afresh".
Machabe Hits Back: "They are Planning This"
Machabe, however, vehemently denies Brenda's claims. He suggests that these allegations are part of a deliberate "smear campaign" aimed at tarnishing his name and generating public sympathy.

“Brenda, I know what she's looking for is the sympathy of Kenyans, maybe she wants Kenyans to contribute for them. Maybe she's just clout chasing with my name because you saw that since we met, I went silent and said let me mind my own business," Machabe stated, implying she is seeking public contributions and attention.

He believes the timing coincides with the release of his new song, "Bado Tunapambana." Machabe added that he had gone silent, focusing on his own ventures, but the new song has seemingly reignited these conversations.
“They have seen that I have released a new song and they have started talking again because they know that if they talk about me, Kenyans will listen to them and give them something,” he added.

Financial Records Contradict Claims
Machabe insists that he did not leave Stevo's account with such a paltry sum. He claims that Stevo himself would not make such an allegation because he knows the truth.
"And Stevo cannot speak because he knows the truth where it is, he knows that I never left Ksh 18 bob in the account," he explained.
Machabe recalled that just one week after their separation, YouTube earnings of approximately KSh 30,000 were deposited into Stevo's account. He also stated that he had left a substantial amount in the bank at the time of their parting.

“After we had a falling out, a week later, the YouTube money came, and it went to the same account of Stevo Simple Boy. It was around Ksh30k; there is also an amount I left in that account, even though I can't remember the exact amount, but it wasn't less than Ksh100k. You see, but now they have come up with a new style to ruin my name that I left Ksh 18,” Machabe strongly debunked the Ksh 18 bob narrative.
Peaceful Parting Agreement
Furthermore, Machabe presented evidence of a peaceful separation. On 16 May 2025, a parting agreement was signed by Stevo Simple Boy (Stephen Otieno Adera), Geoffrey Machabe, and witnessed by Oscar Omondi Oywang, who is now Stevo’s current manager.
The agreement explicitly states that Stevo Simple Boy confirmed receiving control of his Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube accounts and had no grievances against Geoffrey Machabe, parting amicably.

Machabe also confirmed his satisfaction that they had parted ways peacefully, with no one owing anything to the other.

Machabe believes that the current manager, Oscar, and Brenda are orchestrating these claims. "This thing ni kitu inapangwa na the current manager huyo Oscar na na Brenda," he said, suggesting they are aiming for "kiki" (publicity stunt) and public contributions, while damaging his reputation.
He concluded by noting that Stevo has remained silent, which Machabe interprets as Stevo knowing the "fact that wanaongea kitu ya ukora, wanaongea kitu ya uongo".
