A Clash of Champions and Underdogs on the Pitch

Morocco, the defending champions, are aiming for a record-extending third CHAN title. They earned their spot in the final after a tense 5-3 penalty shootout victory over Senegal in the semi-finals.

Madagascar are the surprise of the tournament. The island nation has made it to their first-ever CHAN final, overcoming co-hosts Kenya in a thrilling quarterfinal penalty shootout before beating Sudan with a dramatic extra-time winner in the semis. 

Heartbreak for the Harambee Stars

For Kenyan fans, the pain of elimination is still fresh. The Harambee Stars were knocked out on August 22 after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Madagascar ended in a penalty shootout defeat.

Despite a strong performance and an early goal from Gor Mahia's Alphonce Omija, two crucial missed penalties proved costly, one of them from Omija himself.
