Kenya’s Harambee Stars captain, Aboud Omar, has offered a rare glimpse into his world beyond the football pitch.

During a revealing quickfire session with Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi, the 32-year-old defender, whose full name is Abud Omar Khamis, shared candid details about his personal life, education, and even his culinary preferences.

Deep Dive into His Personal World

Omar opened up about emotional moments and surprising daily habits. When asked about the last time he cried, the captain admitted, "I don't remember. I think when my grandmother passed away."

His last Google search revealed a professional ambition: "How to shoot a freak kick like Cristiano Ronaldo."

This shows his continuous drive to improve his game, mirroring his idol, the Portuguese superstar. It is no surprise then that Omar’s favourite football team is Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, the club where Ronaldo achieved legendary status.

Education and Culinary Quirks

Aboud Omar also reflected on his academic journey. When it came to his favourite subject in school, he emphatically stated that its Islamic Religious Education, IRE. HE was also clear that his least favourite subject was physics.

Regarding his exam performance, Omar shared that he got "like 350 marks in KCPE". However, for his KCSE, he cheekily refused to reveal, saying,Hiyo nayo nitapass, hiyo nili fail”.

He also confirmed that he didn't go to college or university.

Away from academics, Omar revealed his culinary tastes. His favourite meal is "Sima (ugali) sukumaand samaki". Interestingly, this is also his least favourite meal and the dish he cooks best.

A Captain's Reward and Team Success

Aboud Omar had previously revealed his plans for his KES 2.5 million reward from President William Ruto.

He expressed a strong desire to "spoil my dad because yeye ndiye amenilea, so I think he deserves it,"acknowledging his father’s support. Beyond that, he also plans to "invest a lot by buying land”.

This personal reward comes as the Harambee Stars team has been celebrated for recent achievements.

So far, Harambee Stars players have pocketed a total sum of KSh5.5 million each from President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The first Ksh2.5 million from President Ruto came following their 2 wins against DRC and Morocco and a draw against Angola.

The other Ksh2.5m came following their win against Zambia and a top-up of Ksh500k from Raila Odinga to each player.
