"We Are Nubia is an Afro-pop duo made up of Maggie and Gloria, who are carving out a unique space in Kenya’s music scene with their soulful sound and compelling storytelling. Their music fuses infectious rhythms with honest, introspective lyrics that delve into love, heartbreak, healing and the everyday experiences of womanhood in Nairobi. Rooted in the pulse of the city and shaped by their shared journey, We Are Nubia offer a fresh, relatable voice that continues to connect with an ever-growing audience—both at home and across borders," an introduction that befits them.

When they’re not lighting up the stage as the creative duo DND (Do Not Disturb), Margaret Atieno and Gloria Munga—known to many as Maggie and Moche Moche—are just two best friends navigating life, one honest moment at a time.

At 24, their bond runs deep, built on daily phone calls, inside jokes, and the occasional white lie.

Honesty and Emotions

The duo isn’t afraid to get real. "I lied today — something about work," Maggie admits with a laugh. Munga is just as open. “I’m lying right now — about not having embarrassing Google searches,” she jokes.

Their honesty extends to their emotional lives, too. Munga shares that she recently cried over “matters of the heart and emotions.”

“Not heartbreak… I’m just a girl,” she adds.

Maggie, who is often the calmer of the two, missed the moment entirely. “I didn’t even know she was crying,” she says.

From Mukimo to Biryani: The Food Debate

When it comes to food, their preferences are as different as their personalities. Maggie’s go-to is a simple but classic dish: ugali and beef.

Munga, on the other hand, is a fan of biryani but draws a hard line at mukimo. “Don’t even bring it near me,” she jokes. Maggie, meanwhile, can’t stand nduma.

The Hustle That Shaped Them

The duo’s first jobs speak to their strong work ethic. Before finding success as DND, they were both hustling to make a living. Maggie worked as a shop attendant, earning just Ksh 500 per day. Munga sold thrifted outfits, making up to Ksh 4,000 on a good payday.
