Mount Kenya University (MKU) has announced 15 job vacancies in the School of Medicine.

In a notice on Wednesday, MKU invited applications from suitably qualified, visionary, competent, dynamic and experienced professionals with an impeccable track record to fill the positions.

The applicants will be expected to serve as full-time lecturers at Thika Campus, reporting to the School’s dean.

The positions include Physiology (2), Paediatrics (1), Obstetrics & Gynaecology (1), Internal Medicine (1), General Surgery (2), Orthopaedics (1) and ENT (1).

The School is also seeking lecturers in Ophthalmology (1), Anaesthesia (1), Diagnostic Imaging (1), and Psychiatry (3).

Applications must hold a Doctor of Philosophy in a relevant area of specialisation from a recognised academic institution, or a Master of Medicine in a relevant area of specialisation from a recognised academic institution.

They should also have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery [MBChB].

Successful candidates will be expected to adhere to the teaching requirements as per the curriculum, administer Continuous Assessment Tests, and set, administer and mark exams. 

Interested candidates can apply through the Mount Kenya University online Recruitment Portal (http://recruitment.mku.ac.ke) on or before July 25, 2025.

The institution noted that all applications must be made through the MKU recruitment online portal.

MKU cautioned against paying for the exercise, noting that it does not charge any fee for the whole recruitment and selection exercise.

Vacancies for Kakamega County public service board members

The Selection Panel for the appointment of Members of the Kakamega County Public Service Board has invited applications from suitably qualified persons to fill two vacancies. 

Successful candidates will serve for a six-year term on a non-renewable, full-time basis.

Applicants must meet the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution and must attach clearances from HELB, KRA, CRB, EACC, and a Certificate of Good Conduct.

The County stated that the remuneration and benefits for the posts are as may be set from time to time by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Each application letter should be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and testimonials, a copy of thenational identity card or passport, current telephone number(s) and other relevant supporting documents.

All applications should be clearly marked "Application for the position of Member of County Public Service Board" on the envelope and submitted.

Hand-delivered applications should be delivered to the County Secretary and Head of Public Service on the 2nd floor of the Office of the Governor, Kakamega County.

Applications should be submitted to the Chairperson of the Selection Panel on or before July 30, 2025.

Successful candidates will be required to establish and abolish offices in the County Public Service, appoint persons to or act in the offices of the County, including on the Boards of urban areas within the County and to confirm appointments.

They are to exercise disciplinary control over and remove persons holding or acting in offices in the County Public Service, and prepare regular reports for submission to the County Assembly and the Governor on the execution of the Board's functions.

They will also be expected to promote in the County Public Service the values and principles referred to in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution, and evaluate and report to the County Assembly on the extent to which the values and principles referred to in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution are complied with in the County Public Service.

The members will advise the County Government on implementation and monitoring of the National Performance Management system, and make recommendations to the Salaries and Remunerations Commission [SRC) on behalf of the County Government, on the remuneration, pensions and gratuities for County Public Service employees.

For the appointment to the position, the candidate must be a Kenyan citizen, not a state or public officer, possess a first degree from a university recognised in Kenya, and have knowledge and working experience of at least five years.

They should satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity, have demonstrated professional competence and managerial capabilities, demonstrate an absence of breach of the relevant professional code of conduct, and demonstrate an appreciation of the diversity within the County.
