[PHOTOS] Boniface Kariuki honoured with flag-draped coffin

Boniface Kariuki, the mask vendor who was shot by police during the June 25 protests in Nairobi, was laid to rest on Friday at his family home in Kangema, Murang'a County.

His casket was draped with the Kenyan flag — a gesture that symbolised public solidarity and mourning.

Several leaders, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, attended the emotional ceremony.

Kariuki had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital following the shooting. He succumbed to his injuries days later.

A police officer linked to the shooting has since been charged with murder.
