According to Global Estimates 2024, working children aged 5 to 14 are exposed to various workplace hazards, with 41% facing any workplace hazard.

Carrying heavy loads is the most prevalent specific hazard, affecting 23% of working children.

Exposure to extreme temperatures or humidity impacts 21%, while 19% work in environments with lots of dust or fumes.

Dangerous tools or heavy machinery expose 18% of child laborers to risk.

Other significant hazards include working at heights (9%), exposure to noise or vibrations (8%), and working with fire, flames, or gas (5%).

Working with chemicals or explosives (5%), at night (3%), and in water or underwater (1%) also contribute to the hazardous conditions faced by these vulnerable children.
