
Police and health officials are investigating an incident where a 13-year-old boy died after suspected food poisoning in Mbeere, Embu County.
The victim was a pupil at Kabuguri Primary, and police said he, with others, went to an event within the neighbourhood and had food and drinks that are believed to have turned poisonous.
On May 11, several locals, including the deceased, started vomiting and experiencing diarrhoea.
Six other people were taken to the hospital for treatment, exhibiting similar symptoms.
The boy died in their home before he could be taken to the hospital. This is after he had complained of stomach pains and vomited.
Police said experts are investigating the incident.
Health officials visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident.
The body was moved to a mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where a man was found murdered and his body abandoned on the roadside in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The man had visible injuries to the head, a broken right leg, bruises on the back, and his right hand with a torn black T-shirt and navy blue shorts.
The body was discovered on May 12, police said.
The motive of the murder is yet to be established.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.
He was among five people killed in separate murder incidents that are under investigation by police.
In the Kibugua area, Tharaka Nithi County, the body of a woman was found on the Ruguti riverbanks.
The body had a deep cut behind the head and a ruptured stomach.
The deceased was wearing a pair of black trousers, and beside the body was a yellow jersey, police said.
Police said they also found a beige handbag a few meters from the scene where the body lay.
The partially decomposed body was moved to Chuka General Hospital mortuary, awaiting identification and postmortem.
In Tala, Kangundo, Machakos County, the body of a man was found on the roadside after a suspected murder.
The incident happened in Ngonda village, adjacent to the Tala-Kangundo road.
The body was found with deep cuts on the right upper chest and left leg calf, and a fresh wound on the back of the head.
The body was moved to Kangundo Level Four mortuary, awaiting identification and postmortem.
In Mbooni, Makueni County, a man was found dead and the body dumped on the roadside trench along Tawa-Masii road.
Police who visited the scene said some struggles were noted in a nearby bush.
A bloodstained stone was recovered and kept as an exhibit. The body was moved to the mortuary for identification and postmortem.
In Kondele, Kisumu County, a man aged 35 collapsed and died in his house.
The man was identified as Henry Ochieng Ambayo.
His body was found on the bed. Police said they are investigating the incident.
