Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto/HANDOUT

Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto has said that a lot of Kenyans resonate more with the Wamunyoro team, a group allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Tuesday, Wandeto said it is because they see hope in the formation that is now the opposition.

He said that it also comprises a team that represents at least 10 million votes.

“Kenyans are resonating with Wamunyoro's team because they see hope. We have Martha Karua, who is a defender of justice and constitutionalism, Kalonzo, who represents a voice of reason and Gachagua, who is a truthful man. I am not surprised that it is giving people running stomach. These are leaders who represent more than 10 million votes,” the legislator said on Citizen TV.

He went on to say this has been facilitated by the fact they have failed as members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), to keep the promises made to the people during the 2022 campaigns.

He admitted that having been elected on the party, they have failed to walk the talk and Kenyans have continued to hurt.

Wandeto named joblessness and insecurity as some of the things that have not worked well so far, hence the decision by voters to seek alternatives.

“In UDA we went round the country and sold Kenyans hope, we talked about the bottom up model, how we would uplift bodabodas, Mama Mboga and Kenyans bought into our vision but what we are seeing today are self-inflicted wounds and soon after that we failed to keep that promise and I take responsibility as a member of UDA.

“Our people have continued to hurt, we have a collapsing healthcare, joblessness, insecurity. We failed to walk the talk. We talked a lot but failed to act.”

Wamunyoro is the home of former DP Rigathi Gachagua, where he has been meeting various leaders, especially those allied to the opposition, as they plan ahead of the 2027 general elections.
