Actor and content creator Bryan Kabugi, popularly known as Real Bugi, has revealed that filmmakers from Phil-It Production are a big inspiration for everything he does now.
Speaking exclusively to Mpasho, Kabugi revealed that Philip Karanja, Njugush, and Abel Mutua, through their work in the broad creative and film production greatly inspired him to venture into the industry.
“Personally, in the industry, I am so inspired by the entire Phil-It team – Phil Director, Njugush, Mkurugenzi Abel Mutua. Those guys are paving a way for us,” Kabugi asserted.
The young actor also explained that even his success in this industry, including being one of the participants on MTV Shuga Mashariki and even forming a team where they act in a web series, is due to the motivation they have learned from Phil and his colleagues.
“Even the reason I'm on MTV Shuga Mashariki and even collaborating with brilliant minds from my team and even coming together to shoot a web series is because of that,” Kabugi gave them their deserved flowers.

Bugi said that he believes he is not there yet and that this is just the beginning of his journey and his pace is picking up so he is not tired of looking up to the likes of Abel Mutua and Philip Karanja to learn more on how to navigate the content creation journey and make a living out of it.
He also believes that he has one of the most cohesive and collaborative casts, which makes them succeed in their acting career with ease and speed.
Bugi said that the arts industry in Kenya, especially in content production, is moving in a safe direction, saying that judging by MTV Shuga Mashariki, its preparations are not far from those of Hollywood.
Bugi, however, called on the relevant Department to simplify the environment for content production to give more youths a chance to make a living in the vast industry, saying that this is the only way to enable youths to find employment without relying on the government to provide them with jobs.
“I am proud of the steps the industry is taking, like for example, look at the MTV Shuga premiere like from every aspect, from the production, to post-production, to the launch and roll-out, it’s on the Hollywood standard. And for the actors, the skill is going, guys are getting better every day. Also, the crew is coming up well.”
“What I’ll just urge is for the government to give us that backing. I feel like if the government is supporting us properly, we can do so many amazing things,” he said.

“Give us better structures in the industry, come up with better laws that protect us as creatives, and push us in that direction. For us, we are doing our part as the people who are creating the art, this is just a call to the government, to our leaders to just step in and push us because one thing is, film making is the biggest employer in entertainment,” he added.
