Farmers across the country now have a reason to smile following the arrival of fertiliser at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) stores across the country.
There has been an acute shortage of subsidised fertiliser something that has delayed planting for many
farmers in high-producing counties
in North Rift sparking protests from
farmers and some leaders.
About 20,000 metric tonnes of the fertiliser arrived at the port of Mombasa at the weekend being delivered to the stores.
Agriculture Principal Secretary Paul Ronoh who was at Eldoret NCPB stores assured farmers that no fake fertilizer would be allowed to infiltrate the market.
Ronoh added that the number of farmers this year has increased but the state will match the high demand for for subsidized fertilizer.
