President Ruto expressed the government's openness to hosting the World Bank and International Finance Corporation Regional Vice Presidents for Eastern and Southern Africa in Nairobi.

According to Ruto, the move would position Nairobi as a key regional and continental hub, with a significant World Bank presence of approximately 870 staff members.

Ruto said the World Bank has been instrumental in supporting Kenya’s ambition to attain upper-middle-income status within the next five years.

"It has been a key partner in our journey towards becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030, driving efforts to alleviate poverty and foster shared prosperity," Ruto stated.

Accompanying Kwakwa on this visit was the World Bank’s Country Director for Kenya, Qiamiao Fan.

President Ruto also acknowledged the World Bank as a steadfast financial partner to Kenya for over five decades.
