A GOVERNOR WHO has consistently scored highly for his work could be staring at trouble. There are reports, some already sent to investigative agencies, that the governor’s spouse is siphoning public funds. It’s alleged the amount could be up to Sh200 million. The scheme involves falsifying documents to justify fraudulent payments and forgery of signatures of former county officials. Some funds meant for genuine contractors were reportedly channeled to proxies and shell companies. The governor is also under fire for erecting billboards with personal images across the expansive devolved unit.

A DECLARATION BY a top politician that his party will conduct nominations for all elective positions has rattled incumbents in a certain part of the country. Why? Some of them had assumed they would be handed direct tickets. In previous elections, a number of MPs and senators were given direct tickets and they were expecting the same script would be used in 2027. Some leaders have began hatching a plot to “snatch” nomination certificates irrespective of the method used. In the region, securing the party ticket is considered a battle half won and so politicians do all within their financial capacity to bag it.

AS POLITICS HEATS up across the country, professionals from a county in Eastern region have given the assembly speaker a dressing down that remains the talk of the town. The professionals took issue with the speaker’s alleged habit of arm-twisting MCAs. Sounding the warning during a local meeting, they rebuked the speaker for using crude methods like threatening never to assign MCAs any foreign travels if they refused to toe the line. They also reprimanded the speaker for galivanting from ward to ward to launch projects. They taunted him to seek an MCA’s seat in 2027 if he so loves the work of a ward rep.
