Botswana High Commissioner to Kenya, Andrew Onalenna with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula,in Parliament on February 13, 2025/HANDOUTThe Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, on Thursday hosted Botswana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Andrew Onalenna Sesinyiand Deputy High Commissioner, Ontumetse Anthony Ontumetse, at his office in Parliament.
Wetang’ula spoke about the diplomats’ exploration of areas that reinforce bilateral relations between Botswana and Kenya while making use of Kenya’s position in the East African community.
“The envoy sought to explore areas of mutual cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations, leveraging Kenya’s strategic position within the East African Community," Wetang'ula said.

The key sectors creditedinclude ICT, finance, agriculture, healthand governance,specifically in enhancing representation for women, persons with disabilities, and youth
“With donor support from Western countries declining, I challenged African nations to collaborate, develop homegrown solutions, and ensure that Africa’s wealth benefits its people,” said Wetang’ula.
The Speaker asked the government of Botswana to utilise Kenya’s parliamentary advancement through training programmes.
“I also urged Botswana to take advantage of Kenya’s parliamentary advancements by facilitating training for African parliaments,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly.

The advancements made to the Parliament of Kenya include Parliamentary digitisationand overall legislative management.
