President William Ruto has appointed Stephen Maore as the new chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training, and Research in Eastern Africa.

The appointment, which is effective from December 13, 2024, will see Maore serve a three-year term, replacing Rhoda Murwa Igosangwa.

Igosangwa had held the position since October 2021, having been appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Maore, a former Kenya Methodist University lecturer, brings over 16 years of expertise in strategy, marketing, and brand management, with a strong background in teaching and consultancy.

In other significant appointments announced in the same Gazette notice, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has named Percy Opiyo as the chairperson of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB).

Joseph Kanyi will serve as vice chairperson for a two-year term.

Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos has revoked Joel Kibe’s membership on the Council of the University of Nairobi, effective December 13.

Defence CS Soipan Tuya has appointed John Kariuki as a member of the Council of the National Defence University, while Water CS Eric Muuga named Faith Kinya as the new chairperson of the Hydrologists Registration Board.

Kinya will hold the position for three years, starting December 1

Additionally, Environment CS Aden Duale has appointed Maclean Sitati Nangalama as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).

Sitati’s three-year term begins immediately, replacing Charles Ngome, whose appointment has been revoked.

These appointments reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing leadership and operational efficiency in critical institutions across various sectors.
