Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has refuted claims that she is set to join the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) party.

In a statement reacting the claims on Facebook, Jumwa said she is not a villager, referring to PAA as a village party.

She insisted that she is a nationalist and went on to ask who she should leave her current party for.

“I am not a villager but a proud nationalist niachie nani nyumba yangu?” she posed.

Jumwa is a member of the ruling party the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

She was the party’s Kilifi gubernatorial candidate in the 2022 general elections but lost to ODM’s Gideon Mung’aro.

She also shared a report that claimed her efforts to rejoin the ODM party had hit a snug.

It said this had pushed her to explore alternative political options and she was keenly looking at PAA, which was founded by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

It further claimed that she is was also facing strong opposition from Kilifi North MP Owen Baya of the UDA party.

This comes a few weeks after she attended the home coming party of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga following her selection to become the National Chairman of the ODM party.

Jumwa was previously a member of the ODM party from 2005 to 2022.
