Police have also mounted barriers.

A diversion has been created along the Parliament roundabout. No vehicles and Pedestrians have been allowed to use the route.

Police authorities said the move to increase personnel on patrol and in anti-riot gear was aimed at addressing attempts by what they termed as elements aimed at disrupting peace.

Several water canons were deployed at strategic places including outside State House, Parliament and Harambee Avenue as part of efforts to address the fears.

Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said the move was “just a precautionary to ensure peace and stability”.

“We are all over and wish to assure the residents all will be fine,” he said.
